General Eligibility Guidelines
Qualifications Required
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from a recognised university
- Age Limit: 21–32 years (relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PwD/Ex-SM)
- Nationality: Indian Citizen (IPS/IFS also open to Nepal/Bhutan citizens in some cases)
Recruitment Pattern & Selection Stages
Stage 1: Preliminary2 papers × 2 hours
- General Studies Paper I (100 Q, 200 marks)
- CSAT Paper II (80 Q, 200 marks — qualifying)
Total Marks: 400
Stage 2: Mains (Written)9 papers over 5 days
- Essay (250 marks)
- GS I–IV (4 × 250 marks)
- Optional I & II (2 × 250 marks)
- 2 Qualifying papers
Total Marks: 1750
Stage 3: Personality Test30–45 minutes
- Interview by UPSC Board
